Action Drag & Skating: The Comeback

Saturday February 25th, 8:30pm-10pm

Location: The Quays Skating Rink of the Old-Port

By the RQS collective

In 2010, the Radical Queer Semaine and PolitiQ-Queers Solidaires organized a Drag & Skating action at 1000 De La Gauchetière in solidarity with the skater Johnny Weir who had been the target of homophobic comments from sports journalist during his performance at the Vancouver Olympics Game (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llRe40ei4j0).

For its 4th edition, the RQS offers to repeat this unforgettable experience!

Drag & Skating is obviously about publicly fighting ordinary LGBTQ-phobias by embracing gender performativity, while still sliding on the continuum of our divers and amazing identities. But it is also a way to welcome…and seduce the Queer French delegation that came to visit us at RQS this year by giving them a taste of a traditional winter activity: skating!

To do so, we will take over the rink at Vieux-Port‘s dock in Montréal during the Nuit Blanche, Saturday February 25 from 8:30pm to 10pm (just before the Against The Wall sex party), wearing our most beautiful wigs, moustaches, jock strap, dress, overalls, jewel, makeup and other funky accessories…. The only problem is that the rink is not free and is 6$/person as well as the renting of skates…However, the RQS is offering free entrance to the 15 first queers that arrive ;-)

Come with your friends!
